We are not divided, all one body we... (from Onward, Christian Soldiers)

Every denomination teaches scriptural error to varying degrees. Erroneous teachings always result in schisms (pronounced `sizms`--not `skizms`!) and divisions. Each sect or denomination insists that it has the right teaching or revelation--often seeming to care not a whit that the teachings it emphasizes are not emphasized nor even really taught in the gospels and epistles...although the denomination claims to be Bible based, while instead adding doctrines which are inventions of men. And so, when approached with the gospel, many people reply,`I have my own religion.` The world is, of course, full of religion--and almost ALL of it is false religion, a mixture of truth and error. (If you take a true/false test and read a statement that is partly true and partly wrong, it is a false statement.) The true gospel (good news) is simple and straightforward, not hard to grasp: repentance and obedient faith bring salvation through God`s mercy to those who receive and obey Christ, who alone makes atonement for man`s sin through his cross and resurrection. Turn on so-called Christian TV and you see all kinds of nonsense being preached. Go into cathedrals and churches and you see all sorts of practices and traditions which are without basis in scripture. God`s word is replaced by Man`s word; the result is pseudo-christianity. True Christians may even be found in such environs, but they are surrounded by spiritual confusion (Babylon) and apostasy about which God says, `Come out of her, my people.` It very deeply grieves God to see how those who take his name fall into divisions and discord, going off on tangents and teachings that depart from the simple gospel message found throughout the epistles and words of Jesus recorded in the gospels.

Denominationalism is SIN! It is indeed an insult to God. People have more loyalty to their denominational churches than to the word of God. A denomination can be tiny...just a local group or congregation...or huge and powerful, like the Roman Catholic Church with hundreds of millions of adherents. Look at South Korea, a land in which Protestant activity has been very successful. Did you know that there are at least one hundred fractured divisions within the Presbyterian church in South Korea? And that is what most would consider one denomination.

No one can join God`s church (and He only has one). True salvation makes one a member. The Father adds (or removes, in the case of willful or careless unrepentant returning to sinful living) the members in his church. Going to church does not make you a Christian any more than going into a garage makes you an automobile. The church is composed only of people who walk in the light. They are God`s holy people, called saints in the epistles, because they have quit the sin business, having died to sin and having been raised to new life in Christ, controlled by and obedient to his Spirit.

Only hours before he went to the cross, Jesus prayed: “I pray not only for them, but also for those who believe in me because of their message. I pray that they may all be one. Father! May they be in us, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they be one, so that the world will believe that you sent me. I gave them the same glory you gave me, so that they may be one, just as you and I are one: I in them and you in me, so that they may be completely one, in order that the world may know that you sent me and that you love them as you love me. (John 17)

Likewise, the apostle wrote:
From Paul, who was called by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus, to the church of God which is in Corinth, to all who are called to be God's holy people....
By the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ I appeal to all of you, my friends, to agree in what you say, so that there will be no divisions among you. Be completely united, with only one thought and one purpose. For some people from Chloe's family have told me quite plainly, my friends, that there are quarrels among you. Let me put it this way: each one of you says something different. One says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos”; another, “I follow Peter”; and another, “I follow Christ.” Christ has been divided into groups! Was it Paul who died on the cross for you? Were you baptized as Paul's disciples? (1 Corinthians 1)

Jesus alone is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, just as he said. One has to FOLLOW the WAY--not just set foot upon it; one has to walk and live in the TRUTH, not just hear or consider it; one has to continually abide in the One who is the LIFE, in order to receive the prize of eternal life which is promised to all who do so...this is true, saving faith which makes and keeps us in God`s church.
`Like a mighty army moves the church of God--Brothers, we are treading where the saints have trod. We are not divided; all one body we: one in hope and doctrine, one in charity.` (Onward, Christian Soldiers) WAKE UP, WAKE UP, O Zion! Clothe yourself with strength. Put on your beautiful clothes, O ho...
